Photo Friday – Tiny Hand

I think there are two ways to look at this image:

One is the bright hope that this newborn child has their whole future ahead of them. A world of possibilities – growing up to be a campaigner for peace, a government official or even running the country. A world changer.

The other, is a future of desperate poverty. Born into a family that struggles to have one meal a day, has no regular income and lives in a structure that leaks every time it rains. Born into a future that holds a lifetime of labour with very little reward.

I would think that your perception of this image depends upon your outlook on life. I am quite a positive person – I see the hope. I see that anything is possible. I see that in our lifetimes children can be born into a hope where anything is possible. A hope that is brought about by organisations such as Compassion and you the sponsor.

That leads me to a fundamental question:

If every newborn child is to have hope, what can we do to make this possible?

I am a simple man trying to make a simple journey. That journey has brought me to Compassion where I have the privilege of hearing many great stories of what God is doing both around the world and in the UK. My sponsored child, Vijayan, lives in India and it is an honour to be able to build a relationship with him.
